The Amazing Anamorphosis Artwork of Justin Beever

This is a bit off topic for this blog, I don’t usually post about graphic arts, but for the past couple years I’ve been aware of and amazed by an English street artist by the name of Justin Beever. His stuff sometimes circulates on the email forwards circuits, so some of you may already be hip to him even if not from Jolly Old England or having seen his work in person somewhere. I just received this new batch of art pieces from a friend who is a major fan of Justin’s. Before you scroll down and get your mind blown by this unique talent, here’s the blurb from a website I found featuring his works:

Julian Beever is an English artist who is famous for his art on the pavements of England, France, Germany, USA, Australia and Belgium. Its peculiarity?  Beever gives his drawings an anamorphosis view, his images are drawn in such a way which gives them three dimensionality when viewing from the correct angle. It’s amazing !

So here we go. Remember, these are chalk sketches drawn on flat surfaces-

Is that not amazing? Here’s another-

And another-

How would you feel if you turned the corner while walking the streets of your city and saw this on the sidewalk ahead?

Or this-

Okay, one more and then I’ll assume you’re sufficiently mind boggled for one day-

Guy’s a genius, isn’t he? Prolific also – he’s done hundreds, maybe thousands of these sketches.

Well, that’s it for today – thanks for blogging in, peeps. The Old Silly’ll be back on topic tomorrow. Chow, luv ya, toodles, and have a great day in the wonderful world of Bloggydom!

I’ve loved this guys stuff ever since I came across it a few years ago. I’d hate to turn a corner and find what appears to be an orc coming out of the street, but I still would pose with it I think. 🙂

does anyone knows his contact? we would like to invite him to the city to do such works like that

      • Fearkiller / Dec 15 2009 6:33 am

That is a good idea! I’ll check it out and post any results I find.

Are you kidding me? They look like 3D, especially the coke bottle. Amazing! I can’t draw. I can’t sing and I can’t play an instrument. Totally not accomplished according to Regency standard.

He’s good. I’ve seen much of his work and it is awesome. There was one forward that showed him as he drew it and how it looked from his point of view. If he was a writer, he would be as twisted as I am.

  4. Jane Kennedy Sutton / Oct 22 2009 6:52 am

Absolutely amazing! How does he do that!?! It’s sad that all that talent gets washed away in a good downpour.

  5. L. Diane Wolfe / Oct 22 2009 7:08 am

That is just amazing! The fountain one really blows me away.

  6. Elizabeth Spann Craig / Oct 22 2009 8:08 am

I’ve seen some of his stuff before (online, not in person) and it just blows my mind.

It would kill me to have my creative masterpieces destroyed on a rainy day, though!

Blow away – never saw his stuff before, but WOW! And I’m with some of the others – such a shame they onlly last until the next downpour – he should get permission from the cities to paint them in something more permanent!

Totally awesome, especially the coke bottle. He’s so darned talented, wonder why he does it in such a way that his art disappears. Oh, and thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog, Marvin. It means a lot to me.

Wonderful blog Marvin, loved the art and he’s ENGLISH too.

    Yvonne.

    • theoldsilly / Oct 22 2009 9:49 am

LOL, yes, Yvonne – take pride in the talent of a fellow Englishman! 😉

Have seen him before Marvin, but thanks for showcasing him in your blog.

I, too, have seen this artists’ work before and I have to echo all the above sentiments.

    He is an amazing artiste!

He’s truly amazing. How sad when it rains and washes away all that glorious art!

  14. Crystal Clear Proofing / Oct 22 2009 11:39 am

Yeah, I’ve gotten some of his work via email before – is it not just simply amazing or WHAT?? I’d REALLY like to see some of his work in person, because my mind just cannot comprehend this!!

And what’s such a shame about this unbelievable talent is – when it rains, it’s GONE! This guy is just incredible.

    • theoldsilly / Oct 22 2009 11:44 am

Sigh, yeah – lotsa peeps including myself pine over the short lived nature of this form of incredible art. Cactus Annie had a great idea, maybe he could get city approval to paint them in epoxy paint?

  15. Stanley Berber / Oct 22 2009 12:16 pm

I saw some of these last year, a friend sent them to me, and again I can only say WOW! this is truly a rare and exceptional talent. But like so many others I’d love to see him do them in a more permanent medium. But then, I guess that’s the nature of street art – the impermanence – maybe he’s a Buddhist? lol

  16. Barbra Kelser / Oct 22 2009 12:53 pm

Street art taken to a whole new level – AMAZING! I’d love to stumble upon on of these one day. thanks for sharing these, Marv! 🙂

  17. MadMadMargo / Oct 22 2009 1:02 pm

Wow, that is amazing! He’s truly a genius. I am always impressed by anyone that has a real talent for art.

  18. Elspeth Antonelli / Oct 22 2009 1:29 pm

I’ve had some of these pictures emailed to me over the past little while. This man is amazing. The first picture is truly astounding. I can barely draw stick people. Wow.

  19. Christina Rodriguez / Oct 22 2009 2:48 pm

Oh yeah, this guy’s pretty famous in the street art world. I can’t stop loving his stuff!

    • theoldsilly / Oct 22 2009 4:38 pm

I THOUGHT you might be hip to him, Christina, as involved in the art world as you are.

  20. ReformingGeek / Oct 22 2009 3:15 pm

Nice! Do you think he will share the soft drink? 😉

    • theoldsilly / Oct 22 2009 4:39 pm

Well, it tastes kind of chalky, but I’m sure you could have a nice spoonful, if you ask him sweetly. 😉

  21. E. Marie / Oct 23 2009 12:32 am

I can’t believe this. The talent some people have never cease to amaze me….I’m a true believer that we were created in the great Creator’s image! This work justifies my belief.

So glad you shared it, and I will too.

    “hello,
This is about online payment. There is a massive change underway in the mobile media market as it becomes unshackled from the operators’ portals that have dominated it for a decade, all without having made any significant inroads into the content use of mobile users. The new capped data packages, fuelled by further competition, will see a total revamp of the mobile media market. It will no longer be based on portals but on direct services by content and services providers via open source phones and mobile-friendly Internet-based services. The next step is the continued emergence of m-commerce and in particular m-payment services.
    regards

  30. Taz / Jul 7 2011 4:39 pm

Great stuff, but this is not all Beever’s work! Kurt Wenner is also featured here, pics 4 and 5 for example…. now there’s a guy who’s in a league of his own.

    • theoldsilly / Jul 7 2011 6:16 pm

Taz, for real? My bad, I was on a site that featured Beever’s work, so I assumed all the pieces were truthfully his. So Kurt Wenner, hmm? I’ll have to check that out. Thanks for the heads-up!
