Sunday – A Day of Rest

Well the Old Silly just finished a full week of yard and farm work. Good grief – hard work, and getting me back in shape, that’s for sure. As most of you regulars know, my son, oldest daughter, and I are starting up an organic compost business. Yesterday we turned our first compost row over for the second time. It’s been cooking for five days now, and already starting to break down with the intense heat, and the poopy, rank odors converting to the sweeter side of decomposition. Nice.

Plus, we made a great contact with a neighboring fellow who also has hay and horses, and he is giving us enough material – stuff like piles of horse manure and old hay that is not good for feed anymore – to build at least five full, long rows of compost. We’re talking 5′ tall by 5′ wide by some 30′ long, folks. Tons of compost soon for sale down on the farm. We started transporting the material to our farm yesterday – it will take quite a few trips, but we’ll get ‘er done, by golly. So we finished off the week feeling quite happy and fulfilled – a week well spent with lots of progress made.

But good googely moogely, am I tired! Taking the day off, Monday rolls around and it’s back to work.

So that’s it for today, just wanted to share that with you. I’m ready to kick back, do some reading, work on the books I am editing, maybe, hey – take a mid afternoon nap? Why not … it’s my Sabbath, my day of rest, and I might do just about anything today …

Except hard work.

I think it’s what He intended. Resting is the best way to rejuvenation, right?
