Professor Old Silly’s Tutorial Tuesday – We’re Having a Party!

Welcome back to Bloggyversity, English Comp Class 10001.3b, “Writing With Power in Fiction.” Be still class and calm thyselves down. Really – we are as usual on a very tight four to five minute blog-hoppers’ attention span schedule, and there is very much to cover. Stop with the gossiping, quit flirting, turn off your ipods, cell phones, black and/or raspberries, stop with the twittering, get your faces out of Facebook, adjust your monitors, straighten your undies, have a seat and pay close attention. I’m in no mood for any of your usual hoodlumlike scallywag behavior today.

Ahem. Thank you. Thank you kindly. That’s better. Today will not be the usual, boring, can’t-wait-til-the-frickin’-bell-rings-and-get-the-heck-outa-here-so-I-can-see-my-boy-or-girlfriend session. No. Not gonna even try and larn y’all nuthin today. Today, we are going to celebrate with a party, making a big to-do over the host of this fine Bloggyversity, author Marvin D Wilson, having, with this session, just published his 500th post here on Free Spirit!

Soooooo, with no further ado …. drum roll, please – no. Wait. We still got that psychotic, slobbering drunkard for our studio percussionist? Sigh, what does it take to get some real talent around here? No, no, never mind, just give him a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 and send him home. Criminey. Jay Leno, he gets a good band, David Letterman, he has a crack, top notch studio band, but not me …. nooooo, I get the dregs.

Sigh, well … how about a banjo? Hey Gumby, could you strum us up somethin’ cool and lively? Great. Thanks.

Aaaaaannnd now ……..

L-l-leeeets get ready to r-r-r-rrrruuuuUUMMMBLE!

********!!

For starters, please help yourself to some of these delicious, Luscious Raspberry Scones, fresh baked and still warm, courtesy of the lovely Ms. Flanders. Aren’t they scrumptious? Ms. Flanders, please take a bow, how about a hand for her, class?

Ms. Flanders? Where? Oh – there you are!

Glad you could join us. Now Marvin asked me to announce that to celebrate his 500th post, he wants to give away three of his books. Yup. And here’s all ya gotta do in order to win one of ’em. Complete this sentence in the comments gallery:

Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is …

That’s it! Marv and I will select the top three best entries–and you can be serious, or humorous, or as far on or off the wall as you want–content and cleverness are equal in this game, hmm? The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries will get their choice of either Beware the Devil’s Hug, Owen Fiddler, I Romanced the Stone, or Between the Storm and the Rainbow, in either ebook (pdf file), Kindle, or paperback version–your choice.

There is one catch. Whomever does win, The Old Silly asks that, if you have not yet, you actually read the book, and write and post a review up on Amazon.com.

Fair enough? Total coolness.

Alright gang, on with the party. Have some more goodies and grab a frosted mug of punch while you dream up your perfect sentence ending. The band should be here any minute–I couldn’t get Aerostar, Steven Tyler is still too busy with American Idol (I’m voting for Scotty McCreery, by the way, but don’t tell my daughters, ok? – he was my second choice, and I’m still pissed that Haley Reinhart got voted out! That chick’s got the whole shebang, kit-and-kaboodle package, I tell you!), but so anyway … we’ll just have to make do with whatever this ghetto-studio can drum up, kayzies? Hopefully they can at least keep a beat and carry a tune in a cybersack.

Love y’all, party hearty, and remember to post your entry and go for the prizes!

Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is boring!

Great party, Old Silly – and congrats on the blogging milestone!

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 7:59 am

Thanks Margot – and spot on, Boring R Not Us!

  2. Cactus Annie / May 24 2011 5:53 am

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 7:59 am

Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is, he is not one to shy away from leaving himself open to a good roast. Which is what this could turn into, lol!

Keep blogging, dude, love my regular doses of Free Spirit!

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 8:00 am

Thanks Stan, and yeah I know – hopefully the roast won’t heat up TOOO awful bad! 😦

  4. John Standish / May 24 2011 7:34 am

Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is run of the mill!

Pass me another scone, please? Wonderful party, sir – and keep on keepin on with the Free Spirit!

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 8:01 am

Preciate it John, I try and provide ‘grist’ for the mill … try, don’t always get it perfect, lol.

  5. Enid Wilson / May 24 2011 7:56 am

Wow, 500th is a lot. Imagine giving 500 speeches to a worldwide audience. Are you more experienced than Obama? Hehe, Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is conservative! I like your progressive and even weird ideas.

    Chemical Fusion

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 8:02 am

Progressive? Weird? Hey – I resemble those remarks! 😉

  6. Ron Berry / May 24 2011 8:04 am

Marv Wilson may be a lot of things but one thing he is not is female. Now he may look pretty in them thar fancy togs with the lacy thongs. But I tell ya, that would be enough for Mandy to declare a national stay away from Marv today day. In fact, He would be so not Marvin that Koko would have to pretend to be a seat (ouch!) cushion.

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 4:58 pm

      Ron you’re a nut – a good one, though!

  7. Ronald Meyers / May 24 2011 8:06 am

Great party and kudos, Old Silly! I’m a shy writer, so not gonna attempt to outdo the real clever peeps, lol. But I DO have Hugs and Owen Fiddler on my TB and read soon list!

  8. Dana Wilson / May 24 2011 8:27 am

500 posts? man bro – how’d ya do that and still get the entire garden planted?

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 8:46 am

Well, that’s 500 posts over 1-1/2 years, almost 2 years, and during a whole year of organic composting, writing and publishing a novel, editing dozens of books, and this past cupla months laboring in our SLM garden, so, but – how? Lots of focus, prayer, Tylenol and Bengay – so I can get the old bod out of bed in the morning and go at ‘er one mo’ ‘gin – Praise the Lord for daily miracles! LOL…

  9. AK / May 24 2011 9:37 am

    500 post.. wow.. congrats bro..

  10. Alex J. Cavanaugh / May 24 2011 1:26 pm

Now that’s a great way to celebrate! Congratulations, Marvin.

  11. Elizabeth Craig / May 24 2011 3:15 pm

Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is … lazy!

You’re always working hard–usually at a ton of different things at once. Congrats on the 500th post!

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 5:00 pm

Thanks, Liz, and no – I don’t have TIME to be lazy!!! Teheee…

  12. Connie Arnold / May 24 2011 3:40 pm

Congratulations on the 500 posts, Marvin! Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is at a loss for words.

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 5:00 pm

Kind of you, Connie, thanks, and no – not never outa words, no not never! 😉

  13. Helen Ginger / May 24 2011 4:56 pm

Marvin D Wilson may be a lot of things, but one thing he is not, is …Ms. Flanders’ twin sister.

    • theoldsilly / May 24 2011 5:01 pm
