Rant ‘n’ Stance – Where Do All Our Tax Dollars Go?

I mailed in my tax returns on April 15. Well, actually I filed for an extension. Yup. I owe some money this year, and I decided I’d just make Big Brother with his military-industrial-complex warmongering, taxpayer-gouging-egregious-fatassed-self wait to get my li’l contribution to the coffers of wanton, criminal spending.

And sorry if you’re someone who thinks all is hunky-dory and the world is a better place what with all the trillions of dollars we fabricate out of thin air to fund mega-corporate and bank bailouts and wars and empowerment programs, paying for them with pathetic paper-mache IOU’s based on and backed by nothing more than our ‘good faith’ and reputation as The United States of America.

I think it sucks. We don’t have any money, folks. We cannot afford all this spending. We are spending our children’s, and their children’s and grandchildren’s futures – that’s what we are doing. Do you know, at our current national debt of $14.32 Trillion Dollars what that equates to in terms of our nation’s citizens’ individual share in that debt? Get this …

$543,000 – per household!

You read that right. Every one of you reading this – your household is over a half a million dollars in debt to the rest of the world. And for what? Do you realize where your tax dollars are going – percentage wise? Take a look at this pie chart.

Are you proud now? Chest all puffed with pride on the way “we the people” spend all the money we have and then trillions more that we don’t have each year? Over half goes into our war machine, and less than a tenth of that amount spent on our own country, with its abundance of untapped natural resources, and its aging, failing infrastructure.

If we took half–even a third–of the money we spend on overseas wars to ensure the steady flow of foreign oil from over there to here, and used those funds to rebuild our bridges, railways, roads, communications and power lines, etc., and started tapping into our own natural resources–creating more jobs in this country than we’ve seen since the post-WWII industrial boom–we would not have to go kill people in order to fuel our machines. We would not need to import everything we need. We would be able to produce products ourselves–like we used to, back when America was the leading exporter of goods on the planet, rather than the consumer-crazed import addicts we’ve become.

Obama recently pandered to the public with the placating announcement that he was going to cut $100 million out of the annual federal budget. Had a team working hard on it, was confident that within 90 days they could make this dramatic of an improvement in our spending.

Wow. A hundred million! That’s huge, isn’t it? Praise be to the King, right?

Take 1-1/2 minutes to watch this and get some sobering perspective before you go popping the champagne …

Alright I’m done. Stepping down off my soapbox now. I’d really like to hear what y’all think, have to say, about this. I’m going to take a cold shower. I get really steamed when I think about how our ‘leaders’ are selling out the future of American citizens while they live their phat lifestyles with cost-of-living increased guaranteed pensions for life while they continually vote in policies that rob the middle class of every last vestige of opportunity and life abundant we have left.

Wow that clip really puts things into perspective. $100 mil is NOTHING! I’m with you on this rant, Marv – it is totally irresponsible to the point of criminal to be spending away our kids’ futures the way we are!

    It’s maddening!

Margot, that’s what we need – some EMOTION amongst the apathetic masses, that stirs us into ACTION!

It’s not much better over here in England. Seems the NWO is unstoppable at this point, whether the little people like it or not. Like your blog, found it doing a Google search on related subjects.

Hope you’ll come back, Penelope – before the NWO Nazis zap this blog for speaking out!

I think a little trimming in human resources would be good, because we’re turning into a welfare state.

The video really slams you with the harsh reality of just how bad the situation really is!

It is outrageous for sure. I’m not sure what we will accomplish at the polls. Usually it’s just out with old boss and in with a new boss who’s not really that much better and we keep getting fooled again and again. There is too much complacency and ignorance out here. What do we do?

Lee, you’re right – well, with regard to presidential elections, anyway. We can start with local, grass roots movements, gaining momentum with city, county, and state reps that listen to us, but right now (and for the past several decades) by the time a candidate is running for president he is bought and sold by big biz lobbyists who dictate his policies.

It does make you sick …

The middle class is doomed in this country. Being sold out, lock, stock, and both barrels!

The first things I want cut are the Congressional perks. No more automatic pension as soon as they’re sworn in. No more fabulous salary. No more free gyms. No more free meals. No more junket trips that costs hundred of thousands of dollars to do “important” things like take pictures of billboards around the world. No more lifetime top-of-the-line healthcare. Put them on Medicare like the rest of us. No more free vehicles. No more companies and organizations handing over thousands of dollars to buy their votes. No more. No more. No more.

They want Americans to live with their cuts. Then they should have to live with them, too.

I like it when you get on your soap box. We here have our problems but I noticed when I was in the US your car fuel is half the price we have to pay. So you have something in your favour.

Hope you are well, I have finally gor my blogger working ok and am over the jet lag.
    Have a peaceful Sunday,
    Yvonne.

Thanks for the comment, Yvonne. I know you Brit’s pay more for your petrol, but that’s probably because you’re not spending a trillion dollars a year waging war to ensure the low cost steady flow of oil into your country. Personally, I’d rather pay more in gas for a while, take the $ spent on warmongering and drill for the abundantly available oil we have right here in the Americas. That and invest in developing clean and green fuels.

Amen to what Helen said. I just wish they’d let me have a go at that budget with my red pen.

LOL, yeah, Pat – wish I could have a go at “editing” the federal budget!
